I believe successful therapy begins with a trusting and safe relationship with a therapist who is attuned, collaborative, caring, and open to understanding you as a unique person. It also requires someone who is experienced and well trained in a number of different approaches as one size never fits all. I have been a therapist and clinical supervisor for many years. I work with youth, adolescents, and adults. My work spans a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, loss, life transitions, illness, and personal growth. I also have expertise with relationship difficulties and parent/child problems.
Drawing on a number of modalities, I utilize traditional, holistic, and evidence based knowledge to empower people with hope, and skills for positive change. I have expertise in mind/body approaches to behavioral health including hypnosis, EMDR, relaxation training, stress management, mindfulness, meditation, and neurobiological approaches to psychotherapy.
Along with my private practice, I am a faculty member at the University of Michigan's Center for the Child and Family. There, I teach seminars on the treatment of anxiety, family therapy, and parent guidance. I also supervise psychology and social work interns training to become psychotherapists.
